Ministry of Art’s newest curriculum boasts lesson plans that are designed to teach children of varying age groups various aspects of art that a typical school curriculum tends to ignore. Continuing and recently enrolled students needn’t worry as the curriculum has retained three core elements of MOA’s mission:
One-on-one classes - allowing for students to receive 100% of the teacher’s attention
Changing interests - The art world sees many trends and emerging talents and the curriculum aims to be versatile to suit your child's shifting interests
Sustaining a practice - Picasso said artists are children who never grew up, and we hold these words close to our hearts. We designed a curriculum that grows with your children, with no lessons that look the same, and increasing in complexity to keep them engaged.
What’s different in the new curriculum if those are the old values?
Online classes have become our new normal, and Ministry of Art has embraced this mode of delivery by redesigning the lesson plans to maximize digital tools and sources, including illustrated instructions to accompany the teacher’s guidance.
The lesson plans fall into three main categories. They are:
Process-Oriented Lessons: These lessons aim to teach students theories and techniques that many established artists have been taught to master their skills. The result of the lessons may not produce a completed masterpiece, but it will leave the student with the knowledge required to create one.
Product-Oriented Lessons: Unlike the above, students will work towards completing an artwork while applying the techniques and theories they have learned so far.
Art-History-Oriented Lessons: Many of MOA’s teachers are established and emerging artists who have all built their practice imitating the masters. In these lessons, the student will be exposed to artists from various art movements such as pop art, modernism, abstractionism, etc. In these engaging art history lessons students get to imitate notable artists from popular movements whilst learning about their history.
This time we broadened our interests outside of painting and drawing mediums by including lessons that touch upon crafts and digital art. Ministry of Art has reached students across the world and we strive to continue building and changing to cater to every child in a culturally safe environment.
